Let's Act Together
28 April 2022 is World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers' Memorial Day – a day for reflecting on how occupational deaths, injuries, diseases and illnesses can better be prevented.
Did you know?
Every two days in Australia, a worker will go to work and never come home, and 120,355 serious injury claims were made in 2019/20 alone.
This is a prime example of why we are all responsible for improving workplace health and safety. We can all be a part of preventing deaths and further injuries on the job. At Eaton Services Group, we have a united team focused on health and safety. As an employer, we are responsible for ensuring that the working environment of our team is safe and healthy. As workers, each Eaton's staff member is accountable for working safely, protecting themselves and not endangering others. It is essential for each team member to know their rights and to participate in implementing intelligent, more effective preventive measures.
Every year, the International Labour Organisation sets a theme for the World Day for Safety and Health at Work and this year's theme is to 'Act together to build a positive safety and health culture'. This theme encourages workplaces like ours to foster a robust workplace health and safety culture in which everyone contributes to a safe and healthy working environment.
One part of having a good health and safety culture is to ensure strong cleaning and hygiene practices. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have experienced a dramatic increase in demand for our support in this area. Being experts in commercial cleaning since 1912, we saw the COVID-19 pandemic as our opportunity to help enhance our own and the health and safety processes of the clients we support. Over the past 2 years, we have continued to broaden our capacity to supply services and products that help counteract the effects of COVID-19, and we will continue to find ways to boost OH&S every day. We will remain committed to being proactive about collaborating and openly communicating with our workers to find appropriate, effective, and sustainable solutions to potential workplace health and safety hazards.
As we continue to live through the COVID 19 pandemic, it is more important than ever that we encourage everyone to recognise the importance of work health and safety. Let's work together to promote World Day for Safety and Health at Work in the workplace on 28 April.
