Men’s Health Week: Raising Awareness
As we celebrate Men's Health Week (10-16 June), Eaton Services Group is spotlighting the unique health challenges faced by men within our organisation and community. With over 400 staff members, many of whom are men, it’s crucial to address health issues that often go unnoticed.
Understanding the Challenges
Societal expectations often lead men to adopt a "tough it out" attitude, neglecting their physical and mental health. Heart disease, diabetes, prostate cancer, and mental health issues are common concerns. Recognizing that seeking help is a strength is key to overcoming these challenges.
Promoting Health and Communication
This Men's Health Week, we encourage:
Regular Health Check-ups: Vital for early detection and prevention.
Physical Activity: Beneficial for both body and mind.
Open Communication: Creating a supportive environment for discussing health and well-being.
Did You Know?
1 in 3 men experience loneliness.
Having no mates can be as unhealthy as smoking 15 cigarettes per day.
Loneliness is bad for your heart and increases suicide risk.
Men with mates live longer.
A Healthier Future Together
At Eaton Services Group, a healthy workforce is a happy workforce. By promoting proactive health steps and open communication, we aim to break down barriers and support our male employees. This Men's Health Week is just the start. Let’s continue fostering a supportive, healthy, and thriving community for all. If you or a mate need help, several organizations are ready to assist.
