Let's Prioritise Safety - National Safe Work Month
October 2023
At Eaton Services Group, safety is paramount in our work. With such a large team dedicated to commercial cleaning and facility services, ensuring the well-being of our employees and clients is not just a priority; it's a responsibility. This October, as we embark on National Safe Work Month 2023, we want to underscore the importance of working safely and smartly for the success and prosperity of our business, employees, and the community we support.
Safety Stats - The Staggering Reality
Before we dive into our plans for the month ahead, let's face the facts: Safety matters! It's not just a buzzword; it can often be a matter of life and death. According to Safe Work Australia, in 2021, 169 people tragically lost their lives while working, and over 130,000 serious workers' compensation claims were filed in 2020-21. To avoid being part of such frightening stats, our team is 100% committed to keeping safety in mind every day.
Our Commitment to National Safe Work Month
First things first, safety is not just another checkbox; it's a promise. An essential commitment to every person who is a part of our team, our clients, and the community we serve.
The 2023 Theme: "For everyone's safety, work safely."
This year's National Work Safe Month theme couldn't be more fitting. It's all about reminding us that safety is a collective effort. We're all in this together, and it's time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Throughout October, we're going to shine a light on some crucial aspects of safety, and we've got a plan for each week to keep it engaging and informative.
FOUR WEEKS, FOUR FOCUS AREAS
Week One: "Working together to manage risks at work"
We'll kick off the month by getting into the nitty-gritty of risk management. We plan to chat about how we can all play a part in spotting and tackling potential hazards. Our goal is to foster a culture where every employee actively participates in risk assessment and mitigation. After all, many eyes make light work!
Week Two: "Working together to protect workers' mental health"
Mental health is just as vital as physical safety. During the second week, we will be focusing on creating a supportive environment where every team member's well-being comes first.
Week Three: "Working together to support all workers"
Diversity and inclusion are cornerstones of a safe and healthy workplace. Week three will provide time for us to reinforce our commitment to supporting all workers, regardless of their background or ability.
Week Four: "Working together to create a safe and healthy workplace"
In the final week, we will bring all our efforts together, with a focus on refining and continuing our safety protocols, training, and communication to ensure we remain a leader in workplace safety.
Together, We Can Make a Difference
National Safe Work Month isn't just an event; it's an invitation to action. We need everyone's help. If you spot something unsafe in your workplace, know a team member who needs support, or see a facility that could improve its safety measures, please speak up by letting someone know.
National Safe Work Month reminds us of our commitment to ensuring the well-being of our team, clients, and the broader community. As we embark on this month-long campaign, we invite everyone to join us in prioritising safety. Together, we can make a difference, build safer workplaces, and create a brighter and more secure future for all.
